Crested Butte Luxury Ski Chalets
It maybe small, but boy oh boy does Crested Butte deliver an astonishing mountain for everyone.
Crested Butte is one of the cutest old Wild West towns in Colorado. The steep, challenging mountain terrain enjoys mythical status amongst expert skiers and snowboarders. The ski area may not be as large as more well know Colorado ski resorts, but boy does it pack a lot in. This beguiling mix of perfect beginner slopes, easy cruising pistes and challenging terrain means Crested Butte delivers an amazing ski holiday for everyone.
While itās known for its technical, steep āextremeā skiing, the vast majority of Crested Butteās terrain is intermediate to advanced intermediate. The top half of Mt. Crested Butte is renowned as the ski area’s more challenging section, while the bottom half levels out to ideal beginner and intermediate skiing. Few resorts can boast such world-class, varied terrain.
The front side of the mountain, specifically, the trails off of the Red Lady Express, offer incredible, wide-open and relatively uncrowded beginner skiing. Intermediate skiers can enjoy quick laps off of Prospect and Gold Link Lift; while more advanced intermediates have numerous slope options off of Paradise and East River Express Lifts. Expert skiers can get their thrills off the North Face Lift, Spellbound Bowl, Third Bowl and gate-accessed Teocali Bowl.
For those whom a winter holiday in Colorado is all about abundant snow and powder skiing, then Crested Butte has a little secret to share with you. Located just 13 miles west of Crested Butte, Irwin is a meteorological anomaly, meaning it snows A LOT here.
Irwin often sees three times the amount of snow as the resort, averaging nearly 500 inches a season. This means deep powder, and then some. The town of Irwin sits in the middle of the mountains ā very remote and only accessible by snowcat or snowmobile.
There are few places that can still be called aĀ realĀ Colorado ski town, and Crested Butte is one of them. When you walk around town, youāll feel it in the unparalleled mountain views and the meticulously preserved false-front buildings reminiscent of its mining days. There are no traffic lights, no chain stores and no high-rise buildings. Yet youāll quickly see thereās no shortage of entertainment or dining options.
Crested Butte is home to some of the Western Slopeās best restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and shoppingāall run by some of the most friendly and welcoming people youāll ever meet. People come to Crested Butte because they love the combination of its welcoming small town vibe and world-class outdoor recreation.
The resortĀ is also home to cultural attractions typically found in the city, including the Center for the Arts and signature community events like the Crested Butte Arts Festival and the Crested Butte Music Festival.
