ZĂŒrs Luxury Ski Chalets

The 2nd snowiest resort in the Alps, ZĂŒrs delivers wonderful skiing at the centre of the Arlberg ski area.

ZĂŒrs is the home of European powder skiing and the 2nd snowiest place in the Alps with a normal winter receiving 11m of dry and fluffy snow. A discreet and chic place to stay, personal service and hospitality are the proud tradition in ZĂŒrs. In winter the ‘world’s most awarded gourmet village’ provides 340km of well-prepared ski slopes and 180km of open powder runs all easily accessed from the front door of your chalet.

The beginners’ area is located just a short walk from the main hotels and is particularly good for children who are learning to ski. Intermediate and advanced skiers will be spoilt for choice, with lots of skiing to enjoy and a fast, efficient lift system with minimal queues to hold them up. If powder is what you’re after, you’ve come to the right place. ZĂŒrs’ high altitude and snowy microclimate make it a powder seeker’s dream. The best place to head for powder is off the Balmen trail.

Whether on foot or cross-country skis, ZĂŒrs’ varied landscapes are well worth exploring, with a 40km-long network of footpaths to choose from. Or, you can watch the feeding of wild deer on a guided sunset walk or have a go at Snowtubing on a giant blow-up tyre along a special track. ZĂŒrs also has a natural ice rink open from 15:00 to 22:00, with romantic campfire and mulled wine included. Other activities in the area include horse-drawn sleigh rides, a sports centre, paraponting and tobogganing.

ZĂŒrs is extremely family-friendly, with ski-club-afternoons, ski races and festivals for children. The ski school runs the “Little ZĂŒrs” nursery, and there’s a Ski Kindergarten in ZĂŒrs from Sunday to Friday 0900hrs – 1600hrs for children from 3 years. Babysitting services are available for half or full days and evenings.

ZĂŒrs is home to one of the best ski schools in the world, with courses for all levels including heliskiing. ZĂŒrs Ski School offers group lessons, and private tuition is available daily, as well as cross-country lessons.

In 2016, the new Flexenbahn cableway on the Vorarlberg side of the Arlberg finally linked ZĂŒrs with Stuben/Rauz. This means, for the first time that the extensive Arlberg ski area can be skied continuously and without the need for a bus or car journey. Now all the resorts of the Arlberg skiing area – St. Anton and St. Christoph, Stuben, ZĂŒrs, Lech, Oberlech as well as Schröcken and Warth – will be easily and comfortably accessible on skis. This is now the largest linked ski area in Austria and one of the largest in the world.

There are 4 mountainside restaurants in ZĂŒrs itself including Toni’s Einkehr, which serves raclette, fondue and Austrian specialities. Restaurants in nearby resorts are within easy reach.

When it comes to nightlife, ZĂŒrs is fairly quiet but there’s a small selection of bars and disco to choose from. Head for Ambiente and the Sporthotel ZĂŒrsersee for aprĂšs-ski; and for a pleasant relaxing evening, visit the piano bar in the Hotel Thurnhers Alpenhof. If you’re after late night clubbing there is Vernissage bar and club at the Skiclub Alpenrose or the Zurserl disco in Hotel Edelweiss.
